Awareness points during pregnancy:
These are some important landmarks that should not be missed out on :-
Dating scan : A dating scan is an ultra sound scan which is usually done to estimate your baby’s due date. It is usually done in between 6- 8 weeks.
NT SCAN - Nuchal Translucency should be done between 11 - 13 week, it helps to identify your baby’s risk for chromosomal abnormalities.
Double marker - It is usually done between the period of 11 - 13 week, it plays an important role to detect any kind of chromosomal syndromic conditions in the foetus.
These are to be done in the first trimester, so you cannot do these after crossing the limit.
Very very important:
Anomaly scan needs to be performed in 18 - 20 weeks, it is a very crucial component of routine prenatal care.
Quadruple marker : It is usually done in the second trimester, it is a blood test that helps determine whether the baby is at risk for certain birth defects.
Foetal 2D Echo is to be done at 24 weeks. It gives detailed information about the structure and functionality of the heart.
Listed above, are some important weeks in a pregnancy care routine, which should not be missed and are to be followed to have a safe pregnancy.
Note: There is no harm to foetus as well as to the mother by ultrasound sonography. Ultrasound uses sound waves instead of radiation, they are safer than the X-rays.
